Booking FAQs

How much does the band charge?
We will be delighted to give you a quotation if you email us information such as: date, type of event, location, performing times, number of guests and your contact details. We normally ask for a 10% deposit. This gives you confidence that Old Dogz...New Trix are committed to play at your event.

How long do you play for?
We typically play for two one-hour sets, starting 9.30 pm, ending midnight. As no two events are the same we are happy to adapt our play times to suit you. Please consider carefully whether you want your event to continue beyond midnight, for a lot of events it simply does not 'work' to do so!

How much room do you need?
Our minimum stage requirement is 5.5 metres wide by 3 metres deep. In all except very small venues we usually use a mixing desk in the auditorium. For this we need an area 2.5 metres x 2.5 metres - for venues up to 25 metres long (measured to the back of the stage) the mixing desk is usually best positioned at the back of the venue. For venues longer than this half way down the auditorium is ideal, to one side if necessary, but ideally in the centre. You will need to allow for chunky cables that connect betwen the mixing desk and the stage to be placed where there will be no trip hazard. If you have any questions do please email us!

What access do you need?
We need unrestricted access in the 2 hours before your guests arrive and secure parking for our vehicles and trailers nearby. Please discuss this with us if this does not fit with your plans.

Do you provide your own PA and Lighting?
Yes. For all except large venues we provide our own lighting system and a PA at no extra charge.

What power supply do you need?
We need a minimum of two double 13A sockets in the stage area.

How long does it take for the band to set up?
For venues where we use our own sound and lighting equipment it takes 90 - 120 minutes from the time we arrive to be fully set up and sound checked.

Are sound checks noisy?
Yes!

Are you Insured?
We have public liability insurance and our electrical equipment is tested for electrical safety (PAT tested).

How many are there of you?
There are seven of us - five band members, and at most events a sound engineer and a helper.

Does you need changing facilities?
We appreciate somewhere that is private to change. Please discuss this with us if it is a problem.

Are you loud?
Since when was live rock 'n' roll ever quiet?! By modern standards Old Dogz...New Trix is not particularly loud. We play at an appropriate volume for those who want to dance, not for those who want to sit and talk! We have a sound level meter and always perform at safe volumes.

Can you do outdoor or marquee bookings?
Yes. We are happy to do outdoor or marquee events. Please be aware that it is dangerous to allow our equipment to become damp, also the equipment to fail, so avoid the embarassment! It is therefore essential that you ensure complete protection for the band and its equipment against bad weather, including condensation and driving rain. Note that grass is not a suitable surface to put our equipment on - a raised stage is ideal. All electrical supplies must be fitted with residual current devices (RCDs). It is surprising how far sound travels outside, so we suggest that you seek agreement of anyone who lives nearby before organising the event.

Can I request songs?
Yes. We are always keen to learn new numbers, so if you have a particular song you would like that is not on the playlist, we will do our best to rehearse it for your event - please agree this with us at least four weeks in advance. If there is a song you do not want us to include, then please let us know in advance.
