The West Country's premier 50s & 60s Rock & Pop Band
The lads live together in the Old Dogz retirement home, reminiscing of the 50s and 60s. Matron is very strict, but does allow her 'boys' out to play gigs from time to time.
We first got together at a swinging 60s show on Broadway* in 1997. The show was a storming success. All founder members were involved in the show: Graham, Dave and Johnny played a Cliff tribute act, Johnny's brother Richard, the Dogz's original drummer, also featured in other acts within the show. Phil was in the audience! Jerry played in the orchestra pit band and joined the Dogz soon after. So the band was entirely born from the show.
Johnny and Richard are no longer with the band; Graham, Dave Phil and Jerry continue to this day, joined by Jon on drums since 2006. 2007 was our 10th anniversary year.
We are all enthusiastic musicians and we love what we do. We are based in Somerset, and, with Matron's permission, we travel the length and breadth of the country to entertain.
News
7.4.08: Matron is not amused. Having just spent a frightening amount of our pension money on a state-of-the-art 3200 watt PA system and a new set of drum mics, we have now bought a new set of stage clothes and a full set of programmable stage lights.
The Boyz celebrated the Dogz' 10th anniversary with a party at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster on 9th February 2008. It sold out two weeks before -sorry to those who couldn't get tickets. It was a golden opportunity to celebrate Dave's birthday, for which the remainder of the band sneakily reheased When I'm 64. A superb birthday cake with figurines of the band was presented to Dave. Guests booked into the hotel, travelling from as far afield as Bristol and London, A BIG thanks to all those who came, you were a fantastic audience and you turned it into a great night.
